You may have noticed lately that I have gone down the rabbit hole when it comes to home decor. I recently became re-inspired to finish our home. I went through a period where I didn’t know which direction I wanted to go with our decor. Since I work in new home construction I see trends come and go and colors change constantly, so it can be hard for me to commit when it comes to my own home. I think it was the change in seasons that got me excited about my home again. We finally did some updates in our backyard that brought everything back to life.
Now that I am on a mission, most of my weekends have been spent home decor shopping. Luckily for me, Brian has an appreciation for home decor (my MIL has a great eye) so he allows me to drag him all over looking for unique pieces for our home. Last weekend we went to Historic Downtown McKinney. When Brian and I were first married we lived in McKinney and have spent many weekends wandering around the square. We go back every so often to see what new things have popped up. Most of the stores are home decor, with a few clothing stores, too. Many of the shop owners source their pieces from France and Italy, making me feel like I’ve been transported to Southern Europe for the day.
We went earlier in the morning to try to beat the heat, but it is definitely summer in Texas. Lately, I have been living in linen skirts. I have never been much of a shorts person, so dresses and skirts are my way of surviving the summers. I picked up this top and skirt recently and love how they look paired together. Anything that makes me feel cute but keeps me cool is a win in my book!
We went through almost every store and found a few things to bring home. But even if I don’t buy anything I always come home from days like this feeling inspired. Just seeing how someone styled a similar piece can make me re-think what I already have. xo Bryn
