Fort Lauderdale to Palm Beach

On Monday I shared about our quick day trip to Palm Beach. We were staying in Fort Lauderdale and decided to make the drive up to spend part of the day in Palm Beach. I wanted to share a few of the things we did and our favorite places we discovered both in Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale. We were staying very near the Fort Lauderdale airport which is also close to the beach and downtown area.

I arrived after dark on Wednesday so we had a quick bite to eat and went back to the hotel. I was able to convince Brian to wake up early to watch the sunrise on the beach. He wasn’t thrilled with me but being the good husband he is, he agreed. We set the alarms with enough time to grab coffee on the way to the beach. Brian had found a great coffee spot called Espresso Coffee Co just around the corner from our hotel.

When we made it to the beach I was blown away (literally) at how windy it was! So windy that I was actually shivering for a while until my body got used to it. But I have to admit, I love watching the sunrise. It’s one of my favorite things to do whenever I’m near an ocean. While we were sitting there, Brian pointed out that we’ve watched the sun rise on the East Coast and watched it set on the West Coast.

We went back to the hotel to change before our drive to Palm Beach. As I mentioned we ate breakfast at SurfSide Diner in Palm Beach. It was very good and in a great location if you are wanting to wander around Palm Beach. We ending up heading more towards West Palm Beach for lunch. We found a cute Parisienne place called Pistache and enjoyed our lunch on the patio. I’m a sucker for French Bistro chairs so I zeroed in on this place right away. We both thoroughly enjoyed our food and the service was wonderful.

Once we were back in Fort Lauderdale we spent a little time exploring Las Olas Boulevard. We found a coffee shop that seemed to have been designed especially for me. Bistro chairs and marble top tables outside, great coffee and tea selection and a flower shop. Yes, flowers and coffee in one place! If you’re in the area I highly recommend taking a coffee break in Ann’s Florest and Coffee Bar.

Continuing with our french theme, we ate dinner at La Bonne Crepe. We enjoyed the meal but I have to say, once you’ve had a crepe in Paris, nothing else comes close. But all-in-all it was very good.

Since it was such a quick trip (Brian was there for classes) we wanted to fit in as much as we could. Traveling always refreshes me and I love exploring new areas. I enjoyed both, but Palm Beach was definitely my favorite. With all of the pink buildings covered in Bougainvillea it’s not hard to see why! xo Bryn
