The Ultimate Boot Guide

I’m a boot girl! I look forward to fall every year just so I can break out my boots again. I always feel like an outfit looks so much more put together with a boot. It’s the finishing touch! I love everything from booties to over-the-knee boots. Since boots are my favorite winter accessory I wanted to put together the ultimate boot guide to show some of my favorite styles and how to wear them.

One of my favorite boot styles is a knee-high boot in a luggage color. This is definitely my most worn boot style every year. It’s such a versatile style and the color goes so well with everything. Last year I bought a pair in suede and still wear them with almost everything (last seen here). This year I decided to add a leather pair to my collection. A leather boot is great paired with all of the different textures we’re seeing this year like velvet and corduroy.

Another great style is the over-the-knee boot. I finally took the splurge last year on my Stuart Weitzman boots and I never looked back. My favorite way to wear OTK boots is with skirts and dresses. OTK boots do wonders for shorter legs (like mine). I can’t say enough about the Stuart Weitzman Lowland boot. They are comfortable and surprisingly easy to put on. They are 100% worth the hefty price tag, just keep your eyes open for a sale!

The Chelsea boot has been an “old faithful” for me. They are undoubtably the best travel boot I have found. I wore them almost every day in London and they treated me well. I love that the Chelsea boot style is easy to get on and off which I cannot say about some of my other boot styles. The pointed toe also elongates the look of your legs when paired with the same color pants.

Since I love tall boots, I don’t always reach for a bootie. But I do think they are a style that is worth having in your wardrobe. It’s not always cold enough to warrant a tall boot, so a neutral bootie is a great substitute. My favorite way to style a bootie is with skinny jeans that are cuffed just above where the bootie hits me. A neutral suede pair will go well with anything from cozy sweaters to plaid shirts.

While I am usually more likely to skip the trends and stick with the classics, there is one boot trend I am seeing this year that I am crushing on: the lace up boot. I have a few styles that I am eyeing but haven’t decided on the pair yet. I love the idea of a shearling-lined pair for the winter. Let me know which pair is your favorite from the items below!
