After our weekend in the English Countryside, we made our way back to London for one more day. Since this was our first trip to the countryside and then back to the city we didn’t want to overwhelm ourselves with too much travel in one day. We took the train back into London on Sunday and made our way back to our hotel for a quiet evening. Monday was our last full day and by the end of the trip we were pretty tired. We decided a visit Kew Gardens was a relaxing way to spend our final day in London.

After nine days of exploring and travel, a day at Kew Gardens was just what we needed. This day had the most “typical” British weather of the whole trip: chilly and damp. The rain kept most people away from the gardens so we were able to wander alone.

Kew Gardens is impressive to say the least. We arrived around 10 in the morning and left around 5:30 in the evening and still didn’t see everything. We came in via the Elizabeth gate and went straight to The Orangery for breakfast. And by breakfast I really mean tea and scones because that’s pretty much all I ate the whole trip.

We wandered around the different gardens, the rose garden was definitely my favorite. I was so amazed at how many were still in bloom in September. That would not be the case for us in Texas. Brian had to pry me away from the rose garden because I couldn’t resist smelling all of the different kinds.

The Palm House was another amazing experience. The building itself is so beautiful and as soon as the door from the outside closes, you are transported to a tropical rainforest. The mist created such a pretty haze over all of the palms. It was almost eerie,but so beautiful.

I told Brian I want to come back when the Bluebells are in bloom. Any excuse to make a trip back to London. The gardens were beautiful for the fall but I can only imagine in the summer. Have you ever been? Xo Bryn
