Don’t Mess With Texas

It’s been a tough week for my beloved Texas. My heart breaks for everyone affected by Harvey. I’ll admit I didn’t know what I wanted to write about this week. I’ve been really “in my head” lately. Meaning that my mind seems to be filled with so many thoughts that I don’t really know how to process yet. Or even how to communicate them. This happens to me when there are a lot of things going on and I need to take time to process everything. In times like these it can feel silly or superficial to talk about “things” when so many people are without the basic necessities.

Blogging is a wonderful creative outlet and hopefully for readers it can serve as an escape. But in circumstances where action is required, I feel like this platform is best used to spread awareness. The New York Times has a great article about where you can donate. And also where to avoid! There are so many things that we take for granted like diapers, dog food, etc. that are beyond reach for so many. I encourage you to do what you can. Every little bit helps!

Americans are strong and kind, so I know everyone will pull together to help in any way they can. I have nothing but love for this great state. It brings me to tears seeing the devastation my fellow Texans are experiencing.

On a personal note, thank you to everyone who reached out to see how Brian is weathering the storm out in The Gulf. They are out-of-the-way and are staying safe. xo Bryn

So happy to hear Brian is safe. Texas has been in my thoughts all week! I chose to donate to the general GoFundMe page because I couldn’t choose where to donate. Next up, I’m going through all of my clothes and supplies that I can send over!

I was so relieved to hear that Brian and the entire crew were safe. Thank you for the link. There is a lot of information out there. I have 3 bags of clothing going down to The Woodlands High School, where they will be sorting things and getting them to those in need! Thanks for your thoughts-we are all praying for our gulf coast neighbors!
