I feel like I have been throwing the “F word” around a lot lately, but it’s true that Fall is right around the corner. So now that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has come and gone, I feel like I can go back to enjoying the last days of sweet summertime. I’ve been noticing a slight shift in my wardrobe choices lately. Maybe it’s the transition between seasons, but I have been looking for mostly casual basics. I like the idea of versatile pieces that I can style multiple ways. I don’t feel as guilty buying something that I will be able layer in the coming months.
I have been feeling a little more casual lately. It’s so hot right now, so I’m looking for outfits with minimal effort that will keep me cool and comfortable. This t-shirt dress feels like I’m leaving the house in a sleep-shirt. It’s so soft and comfortable. Just what I’m looking for right now. I’ll be able to wear the dress with leggings and a long cardi this fall. Topped off with a blanket scarf and a pair of boots. A shirt dress is always a versatile style.
The dress felt a little boxy on me so I used my chambray shirt to define my waist. Brian told me I looked like I was fifteen, which I chose to take as a compliment. I used to wear my shirts and sweaters tied around my waist when I was younger and it’s a trick I revert back to when I need to. Don’t have room in my bag for a sweater? Not a problem.
I recently treated myself to a new black crossbody bag. We have a trip planned for September and I wanted a discrete bag that was large enough to hold my necessities. If you’ve peeked around the blog you will notice that I love Cuyana. I have several of their pieces and have always been happy with the quality. This crossbody is a perfect size and I love that it doesn’t have logos visible (ideal for traveling). Just my initials embossed in gold.
It was Brian’s first weekend back home from work so we took it easy. Lot’s of brunches and catching up, so a cute, casual look was perfect. You can’t go wrong with good basics this time of year. xo Bryn
