Why I Am Getting A Little More Personal

I feel like I’ve been getting a little more personal on the blog lately. Maybe you like reading my thoughts? Maybe not! While I love writing about fashion, trends and upcoming styles, sometimes there are just things I feel like talking about. I started blogging for many reasons, but one of the main reasons is because I’m a writer. Writing is therapeutic for me. It always helps me work through things when I write it out. I can have way too many thoughts running through my head so when I put the pen to paper, everything seems to come together.

The side effect of being this open is that I am exposing my vulnerabilities to the world. It can be really freeing but it can also be upsetting. For the most part my experience has been extremely positive. I find that most people are extremely supportive and caring. I think the majority of us can admit that life has ups and downs and we all go through things. We can usually relate to each other on some level.

There will always be people who disagree with you or just don’t like you, which is normal. But my question is why do we let one negative comment outweigh all of the positive? I should probably say that this post isn’t the result of someone being nasty to me. I’ve just been thinking about it. One of my favorite blogger ladies, Dana, wrote a great blog post on putting yourself out there as a blogger.

When I sit down to write a more personal post, I don’t think about the people who are going to be judgmental. Instead I think about the people who might be going through the same thing, or who can connect to my words or experiences. I’ve seen blogging change from something that can be perceived as superficial, to a space that is more open and creative.

So because of this change, and in an effort to stay true to myself, I’ve been switching up my content a little more lately. Fashion, home and travel will always be my main focuses but I want this blog to be a resource for you. Or at the very least to encourage you in all areas! So I’ve made a change to my categories to include a “personal” tab in that hope that you will find it helpful.

I always appreciate you taking the time to read, especially the more personal posts! Hopefully I don’t ramble on for too long! xo Bryn

  7. It’s awesome that you are getting more personal. I don’t see a lot of bloggers get personal with thier audience, and they just focus on the content that their viewer wants to see. I am one to do this. This really inspired me to start being more personal on my blog.

Bryn – I really enjoyed reading this post. I have tried getting more personal on my blog as well. I thought I wouldn’t, but it makes it more special to share and makes me feel more personable with my audience. I agree that there are so many people that may or may not like you, but it is so much more fun to do something like this for yourself!
