Visiting Pensacola

It’s hard to believe we’ve been home from our trip for over a week. Vacations always go by too quickly. Since we were only there for a few days we tried to fit in as much as possible. After visiting the beach on our first day, we spent the next couple of days exploring Pensacola. Pensacola has a wide variety of things to do and since the weather was hit or miss, we were grateful for the options.

My dad was a Naval Aviator and did his Officer Candidate School in Pensacola in the 70s. My aunt and uncle happened to move to the Pensacola area a few years ago so it’s always fun to visit and experience it from both perspectives. For my dad’s birthday my aunt had arranged a private tour of the Naval Air Museum which was amazing. If you get a chance to visit Pensacola I highly recommend the museum. It’s a great way to spend a rainy Florida afternoon.

The sun came out again on the third day of the trip so we took advantage of the weather and headed to one of my favorite spots for lunch. Hemingway’s Island Grill has beautiful views Pensacola Beach, not to mention the best Key Lime pie. After lunch you can walk down a flight of stairs right out to the water. I make it a point to visit Hemingway’s whenever I visit.

Downtown Pensacola offers some great shopping with my favorite being “Duh” a home and garden store. I’ll be sharing more of this beautiful store in the next post for my Home Decor series. It’s one of my favorite places to visit for inspiration. The store itself has expanded so much since my last visit. With multiple buildings and a tea room, it’s a must see!

The last night we ate at Sunset Grille overlooking the water and watching the sun go down. A view that never gets old. When it was time to give up our table we made our way home to the pier in my aunt’s neighborhood where we spent the rest of the evening. It was the perfect way to end our trip to Pensacola. xo Bryn
