An Evening in New Orleans

Our trip to New Orleans was short and sweet. I have been wanting to visit this charming city for a long time. It’s such a short flight from Dallas but yet I’ve never been. Brian goes often since he flies in and out of New Orleans to go to work in the Gulf of Mexico but spends very little time in the city. His company was holding a “Crew Engagement” and luckily for me they decided to hold it in New Orleans. I jumped at the chance to be able to tag along!

I shared our first couple of days spent in the Garden District and the French Quarter. Brian was in class for a few hours each day so I slummed it by the pool… rough life! But in the evenings we tried to see as much as we could. Since the Garden District was my favorite area (no surprise) we went back one evening for more exploring.

We had heard about Magazine Street with all of the cute shops and restaurants. We actually had brunch on Magazine Street our first day. I wanted to go back and spend a little more time checking out the area. There are great boutiques, furniture shops and sweet spots. We happened upon Sucré, which is the cutest sweet shop and decided it was the perfect spot to recharge. I have never seen so many beautiful treats, so we got a few samples of everything to take home. My favorite were the macaroons. The gelato was also delicious!

After we finished our treats, we wandered down new streets in the Garden District enjoying the homes in the beautiful evening light. It’s such a peaceful area and Brian and I both loved admiring the architecture of the old homes. They just don’t make them like that anymore!

I packed mostly skirts and dresses that would take me from walking around all day to dinner with Brian’s co-workers. I shared this skirt here as a dressier option. For New Orleans I wanted something comfortable but casual. Pairing it with my graphic tee and my straw tote, it was the perfect travel outfit.

What are some of your favorite things to do when you visit a new city? xo Bryn
