I’m not one to get off work and head to Happy Hour. Partially because I don’t get off work until 7 so I miss it! But every once in a while I have the opportunity to meet a girlfriend for drinks during the week to catch up. I work in an office that requires me to dress up (which I love) so no jeans for me. I also don’t want to show up for drinks looking too professional either. So, I’m constantly on the lookout for work pieces that can transition easily to Happy Hour.

Most days you can find me in a blouse and my favorite black pencil pants but I love to throw in a dress every now and then. This dress from Loft was an instant yes! I love a shift dress for work because it’s comfortable and not too revealing. There is nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable in what you are wearing while you’re at the office. I went up a size to have the length a little longer.

The boucle texture of the dress reminds me of classic Chanel so I brought out my pumps to complete the look. Funny story about these pumps… they are actually a half-size too small so my feet fall asleep when I wear them. It’s totally worth it though because they were the only pair and were 75% off! So for Chanel, I am happy to sacrifice feeling in my feet. I can always throw a pair of flats into my bag for the work day and slip into my heels for dinner.

My large black tote is perfect for work. For drinks though, I don’t want a large bag hanging off the back of the chair. I usually carry a small wallet on a chain as my wallet so that I can grab that when I don’t need my big bag. My crossbody bags have completely replaced my wallet. I will never stop carrying large totes because I carry my computer, but I love the convenience of smaller bags… so I carry both!

For drinks I add a little pop with a bold lip and I’m all set! The perfect work to drinks look – no changing in your car required! Meeting friends after a long work day is good for the soul. Don’t you think? Hope you’re having a great week! xo Bryn
