What I Wear When I Don’t Know What to Wear

I know I’m not alone in that I have been standing in my closet (full of clothes) saying “I have nothing to wear!” We’ve all been there. And it’s not that we physically have nothing to wear – unless of course it’s time to do laundry. It’s that there is nothing hanging there that represents how I am feeling that day. Or nothing that describes how I want to present myself to the world. On these days I fall back on my “uniform.”

In Wednesday’s post I talked about my love for classic style. I love pieces that are timeless and work in any situation. It makes putting together outfits so much easier. There are certain things that are hanging in my closet that I can’t live without. I mean I could, but I wouldn’t want to. They are my go-tos when I feel like I have nothing to wear.

If I don’t know what to wear you can probably be sure that I will show up wearing something black. Black is always a safe bet. My black turtleneck is my most reached for base layer in the winter. I wear it with my black jeans at least once a week. I can always pull over a cozy sweater or layer a blazer and scarf. Having a good base is essential to any good outfit.

Last weekend I had one of those days where I couldn’t decide what I wanted to wear. It was chilly so I knew I needed to bundle up but I still wanted to feel chic. I went with my black basics and my old faithful – the camel coat. To add a little interest to the outfit I brought out my leopard clutch. I don’t carry this bag too often but it’s always a good piece to have in your closet.

We have another couple of cooler days ahead of us and I can almost guarantee that I will be wearing a version of this look all weekend. Thanks as always for stopping by and if you missed yesterday’s post I shared a few of my favorite spring bags out right now. Happy Friday! xo Bryn

A black turtleneck is ALWAYS my go-to as well! It’s perfect because I am usually cold, so having something to keep me warm is a must!
