The Spring Shirt

It’s that time of the year where I start to get very confused with what season it actually is. Some days are still cold and there areĀ no signs of spring anywhere. Then I’ll wake up the next morning to a beautiful 70 degrees with birds chirping. Not to mention the stores are already showing their pastel colored spring lines making it even harder to tell! This week we have been on the roller coaster that is Texas weather with some beautiful spring-like days making an appearance.

I love when the stores start to bring out their new collections after the holidays because it gets me thinking about what my wardrobe needs for spring. This year I am already seeing a lot of pinks, blues and the return of the utility jacket in army green. When I bought this jacket they had it paired with a pink button-up shirt layered under a lightweight sweater in cream. It got me thinking that I don’t really have a good selection of button up shirts for spring or summer. I always have a running collection of plaids and gingham flannels for the cooler months but I need to step up my shirt game for spring.

One trend that has shown staying power throughout the past few seasons is the bell sleeve. I saw this bell sleeve shirt at Loft and thought it would be the perfect transitional piece. It’s easy enough to layer this under a coat or sweater on the cooler days but I loved it this week by itself. I dressed it down with my favorite jeans (on major sale) and flats.

With all of the blue I wanted to add a pop of color. I saw these adorable red sunglasses and knew I could get a lot of good wear out of them. How cute wouldĀ these be with a red and pink Valentine’s Day outfitĀ orĀ in summer with something moreĀ nautical!? I just love them! It was also a good time to break out my red crossbody. I am currently wishing I had waited and gottenĀ this color block version. It’s so fun!

It feels good after months of heavy layers to be able to walk out without thinking about grabbing your jacket. I know it will be short-lived but I’ll enjoy it while it lasts. What are some of the spring styles that you are excited about seeing in the stores right now? Hope you are having a great week! xo Bryn
