Home for the Holidays

One of my favorite parts of the holidays has to be decorating the house for Christmas. Every year I dedicate a full day to pulling out all of my bins filled with decor and start decking the halls. It’s usually the weekend after Thanksgiving because its hard to contain my excitement! For me it’s all about creating the Christmas mood. I make myself a cup of hot chocolate, turn on my favorite Christmas carols and get to work.

Home decor is one of my passions. Making my house feel like a home is always my goal. While I love my home all year, I really feel like it comes alive during the holidays. This is our second holiday season in this house and I love it even more this year. Last year I picked up this amazing flocked tree and I couldn’t be happier with it. I grew up with a flocked tree so it was a natural choice. Also, since we rarely get snow in Texas, it’s my way of creating a winter wonderland.

I went with the gray tones throughout my home so I love adding a pop of red around Christmas. It’s such a pretty contrast with the white tree. I also have a few hints of silver and mercury glass to reflect the lights. Over the years we have collected some very special ornaments. Every year when I unwrap the tissue paper protecting them I am flooded with memories. Especially this beautiful Paris ornament my mom gave us to remember our honeymoon.

Most of my decor (Christmas or otherwise) can be found at Pottery Barn and Pier 1. I have always been a big fan of both of their holiday collections, including their woodland creatures. I love adding a more natural feel to the Christmas decor.

There is nothing better after a long day of decorating than sitting down and admiring your hard work. Every night I turn off all of the lights in the house so that the only light in the room is the tree. I make myself a cup of something hot and curl up with my pillows and cozy throw to enjoy the tree. Even now as I write this, I am sitting here with my peppermint bark and Michael Bublé crooning in the background.

There is something so magical about a glittering Christmas tree. You can’t help but feel happy when you are looking at something so beautiful. It’s really why this is the most wonderful time of year! xo Bryn

Your tree looks absolutely beautiful! I love the red ornaments, they really do look pretty and pop beautifully against the flocked tree! I love to get started on my decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving, too. I feel you get to truly enjoy your decorations longer throughout the season. Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have a great weekend ahead!
