Thanksgiving Preparations

The holidays have really snuck up on me this year! Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I still don’t know how that happened. This is the second year in my working career that I do not work in retail. I think not being in a retail is partly why this holiday season has caught me off guard. It is also the first time I do not have to work on Black Friday so I am looking forward to a few days off filled with food and family.

To get back on track with holiday preparations, Brian and I headed over to McKinney this past weekend to pick up dessert for our Thanksgiving festivities. Our first few years as a married couple, we lived in McKinney and the downtown square was our favorite hang out spot. We still make the fifty minute drive every so often and Emporium Pies is well worth the drive.

I am no chef, so when people ask me to bring something to dinner just know that it will be store-bought. But that doesn’t mean that I skimp! Dessert is nothing to be taken lightly, so driving across town is not out of the ordinary for me. Of course we had to sample a few of the pies to make sure we were making the best decision for our family. Obviously.

The weather turned cold this past weekend so layers were in order. I wore this tunic sweater from Old Navy and it kept me nice and warm, even without my coat. My boots are a recent purchase from DSW and they have been on repeat since I brought them home. I love the slouchy style!

How are you celebrating Thanksgiving this year? We have a full day of relaxing with family planned and I could not be more excited about it. It really is the best time of year! I will not be setting foot in a mall on Friday since I am celebrating the fact that I am off on Black Friday, but I will still be participating in the sales. Be sure to check back tomorrow for a sale roundup of all of the best Black Friday deals. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving however you choose to celebrate! I am so thankful for you all! xo Bryn
