Over the years I have built up a pretty solid collection of outerwear. It is one piece of clothing that I don’t mind splurging on because you can actually wear it often without being tagged as an outfit repeater. I’ve always loved outerwear because wearing a gorgeous coat makes me feel powerful. We all have that oneĀ thing that we wear that brings out another level of confidence. When it comes to silhouette, make sure you are picking something that is flattering for your body type. I am partial to coats that fall either just above my knee orĀ just below it. I also go for a coat that has a tailored waistĀ or a trench coat that I can tie like this one. Since I have an hourglass figure it’s always important for me to highlight my waist so I won’t get swallowed up in the coat.
A trench coat is universally flattering, since it can create the illusion of a waist if you have more of an athletic figure, or highlight the narrowest part for an hour-glass when you cinch the belt. I also love to wear my trench coats open in the front with the belt tied in the back. This is not only slimming, but elongating, which I need.
