Marsh Walk in South Carolina

If you follow me on Instagram you might have noticed that we are in South Carolina this weekend. We arrived on Friday in quaint Pawleys Island (just south of Myrtle Beach) for a wedding. It has been a while since I’ve been in the Carolina’s. My dad’s family has deep roots in North Carolina and even I lived three years of my childhood in the South Carolina mountains. As we were boarding our flight to Charlotte, I had the strangest feeling come over me. I turned to Brian and said “in a weird way I feel like I’m going home.” I have always considered myself a Texas girl, but there is something about this beautiful state that has stayed with me. I was truly excited to come back to the South.

After a delicious breakfast of biscuits and gravy, we decided to go explore The Marsh Walk in the neighboring town of Murrell’s Inlit. Our Uber driver from the night before, had recommended this spot to us as the best place to enjoy good food with a view. The Marsh Walk is lined with fun bars and restaurants overlooking the inland waterways. It’s such a charming place to spend an afternoon.

We wandered around enjoying the smell of the salty air until it was time to grab lunch. We ended up at The Claw House for lobster chowder and oysters (for Brian… I still can’t gather up the courage to try them). I also couldn’t help but indulge with a heavenly slice of Key Lime Pie. I feel like there is a rule in the south that you have to enjoy at least one piece of key lime.

The weather was warm with a cooling breeze which made it a perfect day to bring out one of my favorite dresses (last seen here). I was grateful for the light cotton material when the sun would peep out from behind the clouds. I’m not used to this much humidity!

I’m happy to be able to wear my summer pieces one last time before I hide them away until next year. I live in dresses when I travel, because they are the most comfortable. I also love these Mango sandals that I picked up for my recent trip to Punta Cana.

  3. You are absolutely stunning! It looks like such a magical trip! And girl, I will never understand everyones fascination with oysters- tried them this summer and can’t stand them. Too slimy and chewy… But, you have to try everything once- right? 😉
