Skincare with YoDerm

Skincare is something I am very passionate about. I’ve talked about it on the blog before (here and here) and shared a few of the product and brands I love. Great skin though, goes beyond finding amazing skincare products, it’s about your overall health and skin conditions.

Acne was a struggle for me while I was growing up. Even now I have to make sure that I am taking really good care of my skin since I am still prone to breakouts. I never understood why my skin was worse than someone else’s! I washed my face twice a day, never EVER went to bed with makeup on, drank water, used good products, etc. It wasn’t until I was getting my makeup done for prom when my makeup artist said “acne is so much more than what is happening on the surface” that I realized I needed to dive a little deeper into my skincare.

My first experience with a dermatologist was less than stellar. The doctor was not very friendly or even very helpful. He prescribed an oral treatment (even though I asked for topical) and I had a horrible allergic reaction. I never went back. Over the next few years I relied on facials and had a few estheticians mention the redness in my cheeks. I didn’t really think too much about it (hey… natural blush, right?!). Unfortunately I’ve noticed lately that the redness and small bumps have spread to my arms.

My schedule is not the best for setting aside time for long visits to the doctor’s office. With that being said, I knew I needed to see a dermatologist before I could take any next steps in clearing up my skin. This is where YoDerm came in. YoDerm is an online dermatologist that makes it extremely easy to receive a consultation and treatment plan. The best part is you never have to leave your home!! At first I was a little skeptical because I wasn’t sure that someone would be able to accurately diagnose my skin conditions online. I am happy to say I was pleasantly surprised!

The consultation was a quick questionnaire about my skin type, issues I have, and my medical history. The YoDerm mobile site makes it easy to upload pictures from your phone to show your doctor the affected areas, along with descriptions. Quickly after I submitted everything I received my treatment plan with instructions and information on my diagnosis. I picked up my perceptions at my chosen pharmacy later that day. The whole process really was too easy! My dermatologist was so helpful and continued to answer my questions over the next couple of days which really put me at ease.

I have been using my prescribed treatment plan over the last week and I cannot tell you what a difference I see in my skin! I will have a follow-up consultation in six months to track my progress and re-asess my treatment plan.

Do you struggle with skincare and finding a treatment plan that works for you? Have you heard of YoDerm before? I’d love to hear what you think! Use the link from this post and you will receive $10 off!

Thank you for reading! I hope you are all having a wonderful week! xo Bryn

I had skin issues in college too. Going to the dermatologist and finding something that worked for me was one of the best decisions I ever made. Glad you found a good product!

I have always had issues with my skin as well and I have always hated going to the doctor, so a dermatologist was not on my to-do list. It would be amazing to be able to do it from home!

I have not heard of them before, how neat. I had similar skin in HS as well. I love the dermatologist. I tell my friends all the time not to be afraid to go. I love the results I got.

It’s so great to have someone who actually knows what they’re doing figure out the problem instead of trying a million products and getting discouraged. Thanks for reading Kaitlyn! xo Bryn

  5. I hadn’t heard of Yoderm but am seriously intrigued! Cost wise what does it look like in comparison to an in person doctor? And does insurance work the same way?

Hey Chloe! It was $59 for the consultation and we have an HSA that I was able to use for my prescriptions, but the YoDerm support staff is awesome and always offer any help they can with the cost of the medications, they even give you alternatives if the price is too high. I didn’t use my insurance bc of the HSA but you can include your information when you are filling out your consultation! It was super easy! xo Bryn

Wow! I never heard of Yo Derm before but it seems right up my alley. I HATE going to the dermatologist (I’m weird about skin) but I don’t have the greatest skin ever. Tea tree mixed in either my moisturizer, toner, or beauty blender has been a gmae changer for me to keep breakouts at bay. Sometimes, for a spot treatment, I’ll mix it with a bit of ACV, bentonite clay, & tea tree and it seriously makes all the difference the next day. Thanks for sharing – will def check it out! PS – your bathroom is gorgeous!! xx Shannon
