Beauty Essentials

Does anyone else get super excited when you get a new beauty product and think “this is going to be life changing”? I have definitely gotten home to try something that I have read rave reviews for and have been disappointed in the results. Today I want to share with you a few beauty finds that I have seen actual results from and that will continue to be a part of my beauty routine.

Skin care is so important, especially as I get older and realize how crucial good products are for my skin. I use predominately First Aid Beauty skincare (you can see more of my everyday routine in this post) so when they released a new 5-in-1 Bouncy Mask I knew I wanted to try it. I love their 5-in-1 line because it has major multitasking skills. The mask has a gel like texture that leaves your skin feeling super hydrated. It is amazing at plumping up your skin, giving your skin a dewy glow and calming any inflammation. I use this once a week right before bed. I also love their Vitamin Hydrating Mist. This is a travel must-have! I love to spray it on my face after a long flight to feel refreshed. It’s also great for setting my makeup.

I have been looking for a serum for a while now and was so excited when I received these SkinInc samples. I have heard about SkinInc but have never tried anything until now. I am already hooked! I saw an improvement in my skin that day! I have been using the Vitamin A Serum to even my skin tone and reduce dark circles. My skin has such a fresh glow! I decided to take the Skin Identity test to see what serums they suggest for my particular skin type. They suggest three serums specific to your skin care needs that you can combine into one Daily Dose Bottle for convenience. Once my samples run out, I will be ordering my 3 recommendations.

While I was in San Diego, I got side tracked in Neiman’s by the wonderfully helpful lady at the la Mer counter. I have been researching la Mer for a while but due to the high price point, I was always a little hesitant to take the plunge. Being able to talk to someone who was so knowledgable about the products and what is best for my skin was really what sealed the deal for me. I decided to start with the Creme de la Mer since it is the original and can’t be duplicated. I was amazed at the counter… I could feel a softness in my skin right after I put it on my face. It’s really an amazing formula. I continued to apply it to my sunburned skin over the weekend and would wake up the next morning with no more burning or redness. This has already become a beauty must-have for me. Right now I am only using it at night before bed because I want to make it last as long as possible.

I have been through quite a few different hair care brands lately, but could never find one that I really liked. The last time I went to my hair stylist I decided to talk to her about which brands were going to be the best options for me. I have extremely thick hair, but it is also very oily. I like that my hair has natural oils because it is part of the reason it stays healthy, but it can also be very hard to keep clean. If I don’t have Niagara Falls type water pressure, it can be really hard to get all of the product out. She suggested I try Kevin Murphy. Like SkinInc, you can answer a few short questions about your hair and they recommend products specific to your needs. My favorite is the Maxi Wash that I use once a week before my shampoo to detoxify my scalp and remove any product build up. My hair retains the natural oils but it looks cleaner longer and has a sleeker, shinier look.

Last but not least, is my Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment. I am completely obsessed! I went with Petal because it’s a very subtle pink tint and goes with everything. The texture is like no other lip treatment I’ve ever used. It’s soft and smooth and sweet (hence, the sugar!) I now want it in every color. I like this as an alternative to a lipstick or gloss which can sometimes be too heavy or too much maintenance. I quickly swipe this on and my lips feel hydrated all day, and there is still a beautiful shade of color.

  3. I’ve been wanting to try La Mer for a while, but the price point deters me a bit, too! I love that it makes your skin so soft, so now I want to try it even more! I’ve also been meaning to pick up the Fresh Sugar Lip treatment, as well!
