Pear Picking

One thing I love about living in the suburbs of Dallas is that I have access to both city and country life. I love how vibrant the city is and that something is always going on. But there is nothing better (to me) than quiet mornings spent at my favorite place: Waketon Road. If you have read my blog before or have visited my Behind the Name page you already know that Waketon Road is the beautiful piece of land that inspired this blog.

I started dating my hubby, Brian, when we were seniors in high school. His family lived on this beautiful piece of property right in the middle of town. When Brian and I went off to separate colleges, Waketon Road was always where we reunited. Even now that we’re married with our own place we still go back almost every morning. It’s the perfect escape when life gets busy.

Summer is my favorite season for the land because it is full of hidden treasures like the pear tree that is completed weighed down with pears and the blackberry bushes that are covered in berries. It’s such a peaceful spot.

Now that the rain has passed through, the sun is out and it is hot! I am buying every little summer dress I can find. This one from ASOS is the perfect light weight material to throw on for a day of being in the heat. I can spend way too many hours looking at the ASOS site. I feel like no matter how many times I look there is always something new.

The cheery yellow floral print was what sold me on this one. It’s perfect paired with my Hunter Boots but I easily switched to flats when I wasn’t stomping through wet grass. I make it a habit to leave my Hunters in the car because with this crazy Texas weather, you never know what the day might bring!

I couldn’t resist this two-tone boater hat from the Target + Who What Wear collection. I have a serious hat obsession because they add such a fun element to an outfit! Not to mention it came in quite handy on this very sunny morning.
