Current Favorites – Makeup Basics

We all have our own makeup tricks and staples that we pull out for that special occasion or date night, but for every day I’m a big fan of the five minute face (okay… maybe 10 minutes). As I’ve gotten older I have found that it is more important to me to spend money on my skincare and watch what I am putting in my body rather than spending a lot on my makeup. Now that I have found skincare products that work wonders on my skin (see my First Aid Beauty post here) I find that I am more comfortable wearing less makeup. Having a good base means you just need a few products to enhance your natural look!

Current Favorites - Makeup Basics

I have a few tried and true products that I wear every.single.day and layer in different steps depending on what look I am going for. I start with my e.l.f. Mineral Infused Face Primer in Radiant Glow #83404 to give my skin a natural sheen under my foundation. I put this on over my First Aid Beauty 5-in-1 cream and it layers perfectly. Next I follow with my Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous foundation. For me, the easiest way I have found to apply my foundation is with my Beauty Blender. This foundation has great coverage but still looks natural and feels light on my skin. I have never liked heavy, super thick foundation so this one from Covergirl is my go-to. I will top off my face with either bronzer or blush depending on what I am wearing.

My eyes are my favorite thing to highlight and what I get the most compliments on. I have been wearing winged eye liner for as long as I can remember (I have Lauren Conrad to thank for that!) Because of this I have tried many different eyeliners and in my opinion you can’t beat Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. This is by far the best long-lasting liner and easiest to apply. It helps to apply a good primer to your lid before you apply the liner. I use this one from Urban Decay. And if I am going to wear eye shadow, I apply that before my liner to make everything pop! I finish my eyes off with multiple coats of mascara. I LOVE this one from Maybelline.

I love a good lip color. I think it transforms your whole look. You can go neutral with winged liner and add a pop of color on your lip and it’s instantly retro. This Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Electric Orange has been my favorite color this spring (seen here). When I don’t feel quite so bold, I reach for my Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid in Nude Thrill. This is the perfect nude shade and I love the matte finish because it looks so natural, versus a gloss.

Do you have some favorites that I need to try? I always love to test out new products! Happy Wednesday!

  7. Hmm it looks like your site ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what
I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I
as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to everything.
Do you have any tips for newbie blog writers? I’d really appreciate it.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate you saying that! I am glad you are enjoying it! I think what I have learned so far is having a consistent posting schedule is very important so pick what works best for you and stick with that and only post what you’re proud of. If you don’t have something that you think represents you the way you are wanting to portray yourself, then it’s better to not post just for the sake of posting. And definitely write about what you love, because it will always come easy if you are passionate about it! I hope that helps!! If you have any other specific questions feel free to let me know! Thanks for reading xo Bryn

  8. Howdy! This post could not be written much better! Going
through this post reminds me of my previous roommate! He always kept preaching about this.
I will send this article to him. Fairly certain he’ll have a good read.
