Weekend in the Mountains

I have been craving snow! Living in Texas, we never get too much of it and if we do, the whole city shuts down and you don’t really get to enjoy it! This year we didn’t see one snowflake fall so I knew if I wanted it, I was going to have to chase it.

Getting Brian to agree to a trip to the mountains took less than a minute. Even though we enjoy a beautiful beach, there is something so magical that only the mountains can offer. We both grew up skiing with our families so we were excited to go for the first time together.

I have always heard how beautiful Utah is but have never been able to visit, so when it came time to research where we wanted to stay, Park City was at the top of our list. Just outside of Park City is a smaller resort, Deer Valley. We came across The Chateaux Deer Valley and knew that any hotel with a fireplace in each room had to be a winner!

We could not have made a better choice! This place is everything you want for a weekend in the mountains. The hotel was grand but charming, the food was amazing and the view could actually take your breath away.

We arrived Thursday afternoon and spent the remainder of the day exploring everything the area had to offer. The hotel was a short ride away from downtown Park City (more on that in a later post) and within walking distance to the ski lift.

Snapping into skis again for the first time in over a decade was harder than I thought it would be, but it was well worth the struggle. These mountains are some of the most beautiful I have ever experienced. Deer Valley Resort is exclusive and ski only, which Brian and I prefer, because the atmosphere is more relaxed.

The weather was on the warmer side for the first couple days of our stay, but we did see some good snow on our last day. I curled up in the bay windows at the front of the hotel with my hot cider and watched the flakes come down until it was time to leave. This was the snow I had longed for!

We haven’t even finished unpacking and we are already talking about when we can go back! That’s how you know it was a good trip!
